Warning: “1 Litre no Namida” will change the way you see life!
I don’t think there is a need to tell a lot about this drama. “1 Litre of Tears” is the saddest drama I’ve seen so far. Actually I wouldn’t consider it the ‘saddest’ if it wasn’t based on a true story.I literally cried one liter of tears, and so far I didn’t meet a person who didn’t cried while watching this drama.
This drama tells the story of Ikeuchi Aya, a 15 year old ordinary girl.Ordinary until one point, because odd things are happening to Aya.She is falling down often, walks strange and sometimes her vision turns blurry.
The first person who sees that something is different/strange with Aya, is her mother,Ikeuchi Shioka, who takes Aya to the doctor. The doctor “informs Shioka that Aya has spinocerebellar degeneration – a terrible disease where the cerebellum of the brain gradually deteriorates to the point where the victim cannot walk, speak, write, or eat. A cruel disease, as it does not affect the mind in the least.”
Ikeuchi Aya is played by Sawajiri Erika. I must say, Sawajiri did a GREAT job portraying Aya.
Aya is actually a person who I admire (after seeing this drama) and Sawajiri made the viewer to actually feel closer to Aya and her story. Even after her death Aya can change ones perspective of viewing the world/the things around you/the people around you.
A very important role/character is Asou Haruto played by Nishikido Ryo. From what I know Asou is actually a person that the real Aya had imagined/created in her journal. But in the drama, Asou is Aya’s classmate and her first and last love.
Here “the classmate” Asou, from my point of view, helps a lot Aya. He is that ‘sparkle’ ( don’t really know haw to say this haha – sorry) in her life – that only person that everyone has at some point.
Aya’s family also plays a BIG role in the story.
OK, I will stop here, otherwise I will spoil everything. Please watch this drama! It’s a MUST SEE!
